The key to making money in this industry is to have prizes that the public wants and have high perceived values. Choosing the right prizes (and displaying them properly) takes guidance from people who spend full time in this sector and enjoy staying on top of the latest trends. Top Redemption & Merchandising Games

Here’s the Ticket!

The Top 60 Redemption & Merchandiser Combined List is put together from actual collections from games owned and operated by Alpha-Omega Amusements at two locations so I know that the data is correct and is not changed in any way. The purpose of the List is for you to see where your current games place or rank and see where other games that you do not have would rank in your facility. And also to pick out trends and stay on top of your game. Video games are not included but all of them would be at the bottom of the rankings with only Typhoon Lagoon ranking around the 25th position

New Test Games Included in the rankings:
Gold Fishing, Ocean Pearl, Kung Fu Panda, Full Tilt, Black Hole, and Fishbowl Frenzy.  Grand Piano Keys was set up on 4-8-15 and we will report what we have before emailing TRR #29.

Grand Piano Keys 2 Pl (BayTek) was installed on 4-8-15 at $1/play. In its first seven days it grossed $1687 with a ticket payout of 26% and ranked #10 overall. For the next 5 days it has held the #10 ranking.  Players are competing for high scores with spectators gathering watching the competition just like when Dance Dance Revolution was introduced years ago. Another comparison:  It is like Guitar Hero except the players get tickets.

For long term success the AEM Team is recommending that Bay Teck remove the high score limit for any setting. Currently a talented player attains the high score and another player can only tie that score.  The highest ticket payout win is currently less than 100 tickets. For a new game to initially rank #10 at our highly competitive test location is fantastic, especially at $1/play.

Trend Analysis of Top 60 Redemption & Merchandise Games Combined

The Mar-Apr 2015 the data shows Fishbowl Frenzy as the only new game ranking in the combined Top 10 and #6 in Redemption. I believe that a few of the new games would be earning more money and ranking higher if their $2/play was reduced. When the time is right we will start reducing the price/play on one or two of these new games and see what happens.  Gold Fishing, Ocean Pearl, and Kung Fu Panda all placed in the 11-20 combined ranking category.

Knock It Off Rotary 4 Pl (Elaut) with ticket rolls as prizes priced at 50 cents/play once again came close to its all-time revenue record of $5398 with revenue of $4141 with a ticket win of 30% for WE 4-10-15 and again ranked #3 overall and the #1 merchandiser by a wide margin. My Team says that one of the four player positions was not working for a few days during the past 8 weeks, but the players don’t seem to notice.

Ticket Candy Crane with ticket bundles once again ranks #6 overall and the #2 merchandiser. WE 4-10-15 showed revenues of $2975 with a ticket win of 29%, just exactly on target. We have added ticket bundles along with hard goods to the Mega Double (one bay) and Mega Triple Crane (one bay) to stimulate competition for the Ticket Candy Crane.  Note that both the Mega Triple and Mega Double Cranes have moved up in the rankings and the Ticket Candy Crane has not lost any ground.

Ocean Pearl (Jennison) ranked #16 overall and #10 in Redemption. The ticket payout % was running a few points above 30% and our Team was instructed to make the game slightly more difficult to reduce the payout % to 30%.  As you can see, it came in at 22% for WE 4-10-15 so we most likely over did it. Sorry.

Gold Fishing (ICE) currently ranks #15 overall and #9 in redemption with a ticket payout % consistently right around 20%. Our Team will be attempting to increase the ticket payout to get up to 30% to be more in line with Ocean Pearl and Fishbowl Frenzy. I am recommending that the price/play be dropped to $1/play. This game is slowly moving up in the rankings. For WE 4-17 it hit 11th overall.

Kung Fu Panda (ICE) ranked #19 overall and #12 in redemption, a very good showing for a new game. The ticket payout % was right on target for every week of the period at between 29%-31%. After the initial test period is over, I am recommending that the price/play be dropped to $1/play and see if revenues increase.

Gear It Up! (Bob’s Space Racer) Prototype 1 Pl ranked #40 with average revenues over $600 for each of the last 2 months. It was priced at $2/play at manufacturer request but we will be lowering it to $1/play in the future. Game strategy play can be easily changed by installing different gear patterns in any of the 4 gear sprockets. We have not yet started experimenting with this but I like the concept as it will give us opportunities to make the game more challenging once the players have mastered a particular gear set up sequence.

Fishbowl Frenzy (Team Play) – We had been testing the prototype Fishbowl Frenzy in secret for several months upon Team Play’s and Betson’s request and this game often ranked in the Top 10 even with changes being made on the fly from week to week. For Mar-Apr Fishbowl Frenzy ranked #9 overall and #6 in redemption with a ticket payout of ranging from 27%-32%. Our company has placed Fishbowl Frenzy in several other locations and it ranks higher because those locations do not have a Wizard of Oz 6 Pl, Monster Drop Extreme, Knock It Off Rotary, or a Ticket Monster. Fishbowl Frenzy is TRR’s pick for The Top Game to have among all of the new games.
